Update from Stena Bulk on Stena Immaculate

March 14, 2025

Gothenburg; 14 March

Stena Bulk continues to work closely with Crowley and UK agencies following Monday's incident (10 March) when the container ship SOLONG struck Stena Immaculate while at anchor.

We can confirm that specialist third-party salvage experts from SMIT Salvage have now successfully boarded the Stena Immaculate to conduct a thorough assessment. The vessel remains in a stable condition whilst these teams carry out their detailed inspection work under carefully controlled safety protocols.

The salvage process is necessarily methodical, comprehensive and ongoing. It will require time to complete fully. The team’s initial objectives focus on ensuring the vessel is sufficiently secure for inspectors and salvage workers to operate safely, conducting comprehensive structural and systems assessments, and continuing actions to mitigate any potential environmental impacts.

Working in close conjunction with the appropriate UK maritime authorities, a detailed salvage and towing plan will be developed and finalised once these assessments are complete. Throughout this process, Stena Immaculate has remained stable and secure at its position.

The safety of all personnel involved in the salvage operation remains our highest priority, alongside our commitment to environmental protection. We would like to express our gratitude to all those involved in the professional handling of this challenging incident.

Any questions related to the investigation should be directed to the relevant UK authorities.

We remain fully committed to supporting all aspects of the response and will continue to provide timely updates as the situation develops.
