Stena Bulk has committed to several long-term targets regarding decarbonization, among them carbon neutral operations by 2040 and a net zero business by 2050.
Stena Bulk contribute to reduced emissions through operational, commercial and technical measures, with collaboration as its core. Digital tools, data science and automation are used and developed to increase efficiency and quality across the business and operations.
Energy Management is a top priority, and savings are made through improved, optimized and more efficient operations. In close collaboration with Northern Marine Group, the maintenance of the vessels are of highest quality. Together with the in-house developed platform Orbit, operational measures such as weather routing helps it optimize our operations further.
We believe partnerships and collaboration with customers will be key to unlock the commercial feasibility of green technology and fuels. We also believe commercial and contractual improvements such as virtual arrival clauses could make a significant difference without requiring new and expensive technology.
While there are many environmental gains to be made through various efficiency measures throughout our value chain, we acknowledge that there is a need for alternative fules on our carbon neutrality. We have been in the forefront of testing biofuels on our vessels and have toghether with our partner Proman run extensively on methanol on our IMOIIMeMAX. We believe the several fuel pathways could be feasible and beneficial for our business.
