The Stena MAX concept
Our Flagships
These innovative, in-house designed wide-body tankers can carry 30% more cargo than traditional ships with the same draft. The unique safety approach features a full double hull, two engine rooms with full fire and water integrity plus double propulsion and manoeuvring systems, including engines, shafts, generators, steering gears, rudders, propellers and control systems.

So far, we have designed and built three vessel types in accordance with the MAX concept: V-MAX, P-MAX and C-MAX. On top of this, we are also developing the B-MAX, which is designed to carry about 200,000 tons of oil out of the draft-restricted Baltic Sea with maximum economy and safety. |

The P-MAX series are MR vessels with numerous features for minimizing the risk of incidents and accidents. Double hull, strict corrosion control, two engine rooms with fire and water integrity, redundant systems for propulsion are vital safeguards for safety. Add manoeuvrability and an integrated bridge layout to facilitate safe navigation in narrow waters.

The Stena C-MAX is a direct conceptual spin-off from the Stena V-MAX design. Both vessels are designed for maximum optimized safety – and manoeuvrability. Both are very shallow draft with higher cargo intake compared to the industry standard. This enables charterers to substantially reduce their transportation cost per barrel.

We are now developing the B-MAX, which is specially designed for the Baltic Sea. The vessel will be suitable for the safe and economical carriage of crude from ports in the environmentally sensitive Baltic Sea. It will have a shallow draft as well as double safety and navigation functions.
