“As far as we know, this is the first time in the history of Swedish sailing for a husband and wife to have such a high ranking on both the men’s and the women’s ranking list. Since we have been working for many years together with, in particular, Mattias Rahm, who we have supported in different ways ever since 1992, this is especially gratifying. Naturally, we are delighted at the couple’s successes and look forward to further good results”, says Ulf G. Ryder, President and CEO of Stena Bulk.
During the spring, both Mattias and Linda, together with their crews, have carried out carefully planned training and racing programs so they are well prepared for the races in Marstrand. They can expect to face tough competition from eight teams of the highest international class on both the men’s and the women’s side.
“We know Marstrand well and usually do well there. Now we need to get it all together and also win the final on the last day”, says Mattias Rahm.
Marstrand Lysekil Women’s Double
In this year’s sailing event in Marstrand, the women once again have their own competition. In addition, there is a new trophy at stake, Marstrand Lysekil Women’s Double, which will go to the best placed female team in Marstrand and Lysekil later this summer. Two highly ranked match racing competitions for ladies will thus be held in Sweden and this, of course, will raise their status in general as well as attracting greater interest.
“Our goal is to win both these competitions, but obviously we are aware that we will be facing very tough competition with the whole world elite on the starting line. At the same time, we like challenges so we’re really excited about next week”, says Linda Rahm.
