Jan Sonesson

Jan Sonesson, born 1955, director Fleet & Commercial Operations at Stena Bulk, is responsible for the fleet and commercial operation of all vessels. Jan joined Stena Bulk in 1988.

He went to sea at 18 as a cadet officer with Broström Shipping. After serving as 2nd Officer and occasionally as Chief Officer on bulk carriers and tankers in the Broström fleet between 1980 and 1985, he worked as senior operations and cargo handling executive for Scanscot Shipping of Gothenburg managing the shipment to China of forest products from the Baltic until 1988.

Captain Sonesson, who holds a Master's Certificate for ocean-going vessels, enjoys the challenge of operating ships in an open and competitive market and actively follows trends in world-wide bulk trading patterns.

He and his wife Annelie, have two children, daughter Jenny born 1985 and son Martin born 1989. His hobbies include boating and cooking.
